I had a little stressful week and I'm so excited for a long weekend.  Can't wait to sleep in late, finish reading my book and drink lots of tea (I've been into teas a lot recently).  Aside from all this, my goal is to find a gift for my mom - it's her birthday next week.  But I'm not sure what to get her...she loves baking and she likes to write...maybe I can get her a pretty journal? What do you usually get your mom on her birthday?

Warm Embrace...

I hope you are all having a wonderful start of Monday. My weekend was busy and exciting! On Sunday afternoon we decided to check out the Power of Chocolate festivities at the Smithsonian Native American museum and got caught in a crazy blizzard snow/rain on our walk over there. Once inside the museum though, the smell of freshly ground cocoa beans and brewing hot chocolate instantly warmed me up. After all the chocolate talk, smell and tasting I crave chocolate brownies! So, that's what I will be making on Valentine's day. We don't really celebrate the holiday but I like to at least bake something sweet for my sweetheart. I hope you are all having fun plans ahead and can share this holiday with a loved one...

• I made coffee every morning and felt good to wake up early to the aroma of brewing java...this week, we've been enjoying Peet's Coffee  


• I read my all time favorite book East of Eden and nearly finished it, but I can never get enough of this classic, it's a book of life - so many great lessons and thoughts to ponder about...I love it!


• Finally, went to the post office and mailed our long-overdue Christmas and birthday gifts to both of our families...shame on me


• Renewed our apartment lease for another year and scored a free carpet cleaning!


• Browsed through shelves of World Market and ended up with Biscoff cookies, which taste delicious with my morning coffee as I type this...


• Next in my agenda, is a trip to Trader Joe's....very exciting, right?!

Today is such a grey and gloomy day out that it will take me not one but two cups of coffee to stay awake...
